This week’s theme: Giving Back
When you give of yourself, something happens. What you receive back far exceeds anything you can imagine. In the words of the father of our guest expert:
“The worst poverty is the lack of ability to imagine a tomorrow any different than today. The worse poverty is hopelessness. The gift we bring to the poor is the gift of hope.” Dr. Jeremiah Lowney

Volunteering
Gail is an avid and passionate volunteer. Her introduction to the world of volunteerism began at the age of seven. Gail was introduced to volunteerism by her parents – through many activities throughout elementary school and high school including the Girl Scouts and service clubs. During her junior year at Tufts University, Gail had an opportunity to volunteer in Port-au-Prince, Haiti with her father, Dr. Jeremiah Lowney. She has been volunteering for and in Haiti ever since. Gail’s parents, Virginia and Jeremiah Lowney founded the Haitian Health Foundation based in Jeremie, Haiti at the request of Mother Teresa of Calcutta. This outpatient clinic serves over 200,000 people per year in Jeremie and 102 surrounding villages bringing the gifts of health, education and hope to the Haitian people. Volunteering in Haiti these past decades have been an “opportunity” versus an “obligation.”
Gail believes that the happiest people are those who serve others. She has won numerous awards for both her volunteerism and business leadership.
Gail’s book, Your Someday is NOW – What are you Waiting For?, now in its second printing, has raised over $42,000 for non-profit organizations. It is available for a donation of $25.00 (inclusive of shipping) by contacting Gail ([email protected])
