LIVE the Adventure…it’s a mindset thing.
An Adventure Mindset has the power to directly and positively impact every area of your life!
When I talk about adventure, it’s fun. People are drawn to find out about the crazy things I do. They often like to sit there, on the couch, scroll, and think, “Dang, she’s crazy!”
REALITY CHECK #1: You’ll get a heck of lot more out of the stories if you get off the couch and join the fun. 😊
They wonder WHY I do what I do.
WHY would you jump out of a perfectly good airplane??
WHY swim with sharks, drive a racecar, or rock climb??
WHY fly on the trapeze? Were you in the circus??
My answers include:
I do it to press the boundaries of what is possible for me.
I do it to look at the world from a new perspective.
I do it to learn, build strength, find resilience, and to keep complacency at bay.
REALITY CHECK #2: Wait, aren’t those the things that would help me in business and life now anyway? Ummmm. YES.
See the reality is that it goes way deeper than fun.
Helping people to find and foster an Adventure Mindset is important work because strength, perspective, resilience, and the other powerful lessons that come from it, are what we NEED to successfully navigate today’s business landscape.
LOOK AROUND YOU.
- Is business changing at a more rapid pace than ever before?
- Does it look like it’s going to stop?
- Are there people and businesses standing out by innovating and finding new ways of solving problems?
- On the other side, do you see people holding tight to beliefs that aren’t serving them (and may not even be theirs) because it’s what they’re used to?
- Are these people doing the same things over and over based on that belief, reinforcing the same old habits, and staying stuck?
- Do you see loneliness & isolation?
- Fear & judgment?
- Do you see complacency?
Be honest. Do you ever feel these things too?
Guess what? You don’t have to jump out of an airplane, repel off a building, or climb Mt Everest to gain an Adventure Mindset!
You just have to practice doing things that are a little different, a little outside YOUR comfort zone.
- Drive a different route to work.
- Read a new kind of book or listen to a podcast that’s outside the norm.
- Be open to people who have different opinions, talents, and experiences than you (if you lead a team or company, you may even want to hire them!)
- Try a new approach at work.
- Hum in the coffee shoppe line.
- Jump in some puddles.
- Ask that intimidating girl out.
- Ask for the sale.
Get comfortable hearing ‘NO’ and realizing no doesn’t make you less than. (and who knows, the answer might just be ‘YES!’)
Trying things that scare you a little now prepares you for when uncertainty, challenge, and extraordinary opportunities come to you later. It gets you ready so you can take advantage of them. You’ll be able to start that business. Launch that new product. Make more money. And who knows that girl might be your future wife!
When you LIVE the Adventure that is life,
When you show up fully in your relationships,
And in your business/career,
You. Will. Stand. Out.
Because frankly the world needs more of that energy right now, doesn’t it?
