Broadway Hearts with Jessica Radetsky

This week’s theme: Broadway Hearts

Bringing Broadway entertainment and brightness to extraordinary kids in treatment in children’s hospitals nationwide is a noble and worthwhile endeavor. These children are often dealing with difficult medical issues, and having something special to look forward to can make a world of difference.

Broadway shows can provide a distraction from the everyday struggles of being in the hospital, as well as a sense of joy, hope, and optimism. These kids can be taken away from the hospital walls for a few hours and experience something truly magical. Professional casts and production teams can be brought in to put on a show that is sure to bring smiles and laughter to the faces of these kids.

Jessica Radetsky

Jessica Radetsky is an artist and an entrepreneur.

Originally from Santa Cruz, CA, she has spent the majority of her life with New York City as home base.

Jessica began studying classical ballet at the age of 5 and began dancing professionally at the age of 17. She has performed with The Kirov Ballet, The Kirov Opera Ballet, The San Francisco and Los Angeles Opera Ballets, among others. In love with eras past, she also performs with the Jazz Age dance group The Canarsie Wobblers.

In 2009, after losing her beloved father to BRCA-related pancreatic cancer, Jessica learned she too was positive for the BRCA1 genetic mutation. Jessica found her own preventive cancer surgeries and became very active in genetic cancer outreach and advocacy. She found a true passion for outreach. She is currently involved with organizations including FORCE, Bright Pink, Discovery To Cure, Immerman Angels, and The Basser Center.

In 2017, Jessica founded the children’s hospital outreach nonprofit, Broadway Hearts. Inspired by experiences with Make-A-Wish recipients, she focused on the idea of bringing a Broadway experience to kids in treatment. Broadway Hearts is now a thriving Foundation, hosting many different programs and bringing professional Broadway performers to visit and share music with kids in treatment at children’s hospitals nationwide. Broadway Hearts is dedicated to her father, Peter Radetsky.

In 2020, she co-founded the event company Broadway Unveiled. The company offers corporate and private clients the exciting opportunity to experience an up close and personal event with Broadway Stars.

In 2021 she co-founded Lucent Breathwork. Jessica was introduced to breathing techniques as a means of maintenance and recovery while performing. She soon learned what an expansive and extraordinary healing modality it could be. Jessica has trained in a variety of Breathwork styles including, Wim Hof, and is certified in Buteyko and XPT. She feels honored to now share it with others.

Jessica regularly mentors ballet and theater dancers, feeling a great sense of joy passing along her years of training, performing and experience to the next generation.

Jessica currently performs on Broadway in The Phantom of the Opera.
