How Being an Observer Can Help You Embrace Life’s Adventures and Connections

I’m an observer first and foremost. What about you?

Yes, I’m a speaker. A mom, author, change maker, adventurer, dancer, friend, wife, and so much more. I LIVE fully and enjoy the adventure, so you may wonder why I see myself as an observer.

Many see creators or thought leaders as setting the path forward. While true, it comes first from an awareness of what IS in order to create what CAN BE.

Many see speakers as providing a concept, sometimes that same concept, across the board for every company. But the best ideas, models, frameworks, and solutions become most relevant when the speaker takes the time in advance to look at HOW it may apply specifically to that organization. It requires an element of pre-discovery, observation, and conversation.

A curious state looking to learn. Observing combined with ASKing. These have more impact.

  • It’s incredibly important for leaders looking to better engage and empower their people.
  • For sales professionals, wanting to better understand their clients and increase customer loyalty.
  • For anyone in a company, who has a stake in breaking down the walls of siloing. To connect to their peers in a way that not only increases effectiveness, but also generates a space for job satisfaction to exist and grow.

While I was away, I took in all the history, culture, food, art, and beauty. And more than all of that, I observed the people.

The passion they had for all that history. The ways of connecting. The judgments, hopes, styles, language, and smiles.

Their unique ways of doing things as individuals, and beliefs and behaviors as groups of people that were different than other groups of people- that culture.

But I also observed a common oneness in all of us. That humanity I spend so much time seeking. It’s there just below the surface, wanting to be seen and acknowledged.

We are all connected.

I’ll be doing a tour soon. A Listening Tour.
