Relationships
The flow of productive, connected relationships is essential to great performance. A positive relationship with yourself and others in business is the key to success!
Unfortunately, many employees are still combatting a heavy feeling of isolation and disconnection. Many organizations have yet to figure out how to optimally support wellbeing, engagement, and effective communication between individuals, departments, and the external world.
The Elements of Adventure signature program includes tools to help release what’s blocking true fluid connection. It helps to create space for effective positive relationships and results.
The initial article in this series provides an overview of the entire program. However, this week’s deeper dive is on the WATER element and the extremely important role of Relationships in the success of your organization.
The CEO understands the power of purpose and will be drawn to the solutions provided in that area of the program. The COO will find the relationship dynamics and solutions here empowering for their objectives.
Let’s dive in!
Challenge
Teams struggle to meet deadlines, achieve goals, and deliver high-quality work when effective communication and collaboration are lacking. Team tension increases stress, burnout, and high turnover. It can be costly to both the individual and the organization.
Conflicts distract and divert attention from the work at hand. Miscommunication can lead to errors, misunderstandings, and a lack of alignment in the organization’s objectives.
In some companies, one or more ‘toxic’ individuals undermine to the degree that it douses the energy and effectiveness of the entire team. An uncooperative work culture leads to disengagement, a lack of enthusiasm, and an overriding negative attitude toward work. This can cause the best people to leave and seek other opportunities.
Recruiting and training new employees to replace those who leave can be costly and disruptive to the organization.
Choice
Building a strong culture attracts the best people. Creating the environment that supports them increases innovation and productivity. A 2023 Indeed study states that it’s crucial to make your employees feel important and appreciated if you want to keep top talent and improve performance.
Positive examples in the world:
- It just makes sense that treating your people well will result in higher productivity and loyalty. But the numbers also correlate with higher retention rates, better service for your customers, and reduced sick leave.
- Successful companies are innovating with a focus on wellbeing, creative perks, opportunities to serve causes that touch employees’ hearts, and offering meaningful prospects for career advancement.
- In addition a recent Gartner study demonstrates that employees who work in diverse and inclusive teams see a 12% increase in performance.
Some additional ideas from The Elements of Adventure include:
- Honoring the leader within, we help the individual release assumptions, judgments, and patterns that don’t serve them or the mission in favor of more empowering and conscious decision making.
- We recognize the power of collaboration to create something bigger than the individual, the team, or even the profitability of the company.
- Strategic solutions are designed to remove blocks in communication, access, and connection. This generates the atmosphere for positive energy, innovation, and inspired solutions.
Change
Transition and persistent situational change can’t help but impact the PEOPLE that run our companies. It’s the leaders’ job to clear the stagnant water of past murky challenges and open the way for flowing, consistent, communication. Employees may resist changes if they perceive them as coming from a team or leadership they do not cooperate with. Trust is the foundation for true cultural change and significant results.
Nurturing positive Relationships with ourselves, team members, customers, and the community are the flowing connections that bring purpose and vision to life.
Next in our series of articles is a focus on the AIR element and the INSPIRATION that battles apathy and breathes life into our bold creative solutions.
